Full time fire department employees are hired through the City of Wickliffe Civil Service Commission. Positions are filled through the Commission as needed through an examination process and the establishment of an eligibility list. Full-time firefighter/paramedic applicants must successfully complete a competitive written examination and other screening procedures prior to appointment.
Part-time positions within the Wickliffe Fire Department are processed through the Fire Department and are not part of any Civil Service examination process. The minimum requirements for part time personnel are Firefighter 1 & 2 Certification, EMT certification and passing a physical agility test. Additional screenings are part of the hiring process.
